A DISCUSSION OF INFORMATION LITERACY AS AN EDUCATIONAL REFORM FOR UTILIZING TECHNOLOGY IN THE CURRICULUM
ABSTRACT: This study was carried out to examine discussion of information literacy as an educational reform for utilizing technology in the curriculum in selected secondary schools in Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State. Specifically, the study examined what a technological information literate person is .The measures federal ministry of education has put in place to promote the integration of ILS into the curriculum. the challenges faced by school teachers in incorporating ILS in their teaching subjects. strategies to enhance the promotion of and integration of ILS into educational curriculum in selected secondary schools in Ikeja Local Government, Lagos State. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 77 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that An information literate person use information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose. Also, An information literate person understand the economic and social issue surrounding the use of information. Furthermore, An information literate person access and use information legally and ethically. The study recommend that Federal Ministry of Education must formulate a conceptual framework for the implementation of ILS programmes in secondary education in Nigeria. Also, It must formulate ILS implementation strategies/policies. And lastly The use of technology should be incorporated into the educational curriculum.
